I applied through college or university. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Rabobank in Mar 2020
Interview
Resume drop on university’s job board followed by a 30 minute screening interview over the phone with analyst. This was followed by a super day with the team conducted over video.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Tell me about yourself
How do the 3 financial statements connect?
Basic valuation and accounting questions from guides
Dug into past experiences
First you start the application, online test assessment about logical/verbal questions (medium difficulty) and final 2 round interviews back-to-back with two different associates, one focused on behaviourals/accounting technicals and the other about behaviourals/valuation technicals.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
They asked me standard IB behaviourals and technicals: first round was with an associate asking me accounting technical questions, with progressive difficulty: From tell me the 3 financial statements to why multiples might differ from a US or European company (look EBITDA GAAP vs IFRS adjustments). Then a "case study" which is basically a multi-step adjustments of the 3 financial statements.
2nd interview few behavioral, then asked me what does a IB do as services (Sell/Buy side M&A, firepower analysis, fair opinion assessment and board defense), and then valuation questions (from the BIWS 400 questions, you know the drill), and then he pulled a balance sheet of a Dutch company and asked me from that to do a EV to equity bridge.
I applied online. I interviewed at Rabobank (Utrecht) in May 2024
Interview
2 interviews of 30-45 minutes with associates. Both interviews are about motivation and technicals (accounting questions and valuation questions from the 400 Ib wall street prep). Be prepared to answer: why IB, why rabobank, etc
