Perhaps the most disrespectful candidate experience I have had in over 5 years. The beginning of the process went well - recruiter phone screen, hiring manager phone screen, one final phone screen and an excited talent specialist telling me they can't wait to bring me on-site for the final panel interview before an offer would be made, followed by an email reinforcing that. I notified them that I was speaking in parallel with another company, and that an offer had been extended with a one-week deadline to accept or reject. Relativity told me they would make sure to stay on top of communication as they understood the difficult timeline balancing act. They then proceeded to refrain from replying to a single email or phone call for over two weeks, including emails from my side telling them that I had gone to lengths to extend my decision timeline with the other company for a week as I had not heard anything from Relativity. During that additional week my alternative offer was placed on hold, had I accepted earlier I would have been in already. Two and a half weeks later, I received an automated email from Relativity telling me they made the decision not to move forward. A complete reversal from both the verbal and written communications I had received up until that point from my direct recruiter. As someone who has worked in operations and people management for years, I can say that the immense lack of empathy and basic human courtesy is telling of how this company's internal culture operates. For anyone within Relativity reading this, I encourage you to view this post through the lens of a candidate trying to find an opportunity during an economic downturn who is putting their all into every interview they are given. It is soul crushing to be treated this way, and it is a stain on your reputation that only continues to be compounded the longer you allow talent specialists who behave in this manner to represent your image. Your company is doing absolutely incredible work, and yet this will be the taste left in the mouth of not just myself, but countless individuals who experience this.
