Obtained and filled out an application in-person at Rockingham Community College. The application was submitted in-person and I received an invitation via email approximately two weeks later from the Assistant Director of Enrollment Services to interview for the position. The Assistant Director was very cordial in her email. She offered a date to interview me, but was willing to reschedule to another time that week should a better time suit my schedule.
The interview was conducted by the Director of Enrollment Services and the Assistant Director of Enrollment Services. A colleague in the department was also present at the interview. The experience was very positive. I arrived 15 minutes early for the interview. The administrative assistant was very nice, and I was greeted by the Assistant Director of the department onlyna few minutes after arriving. The interviewers were extremely warm, and the interview itself was quite laid-back, and the expectations of the job were laid out clearly. In total, the entire interview lasted for approximately 30 minutes. I sent a "Thank You" letter to the interviewers that night and was contacted the very next morning by the Assistant Director of Enrollment Services and offered the position.
A second meeting was arranged after accepting the job where the Director and Assistant Director officially introduced me to the department and to the larger division. They took the time to introduce me to each person in the division individually, which was nice. I also received a detailed tour of the building and campus by both the Director and Assistant Director, which was very nice and professional. I was also introduced to the Vice President for Student Development at the college. I was also shown my work station. At the conclusion of the meeting, I was introduced to Human Resources and filled out the HR packet including my background check, credit rating check, etc.... The HR paperwork was quite dense. The packet was submitted to HR, and I began the position two weeks later.
There was formal training upon starting the job. This training took place largely during my first week on the job. For the most part, members of the department are expected to "learn as you go" in the position.
