      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Roku in Oct 2020

      Interview

I thoroughly enjoyed interviewing for this position at Roku. I did not continue beyond 3rd round as I took an offer from another company. A few key points: 1- The first impression about the company for any prospect employee comes through their interaction with Recruiter. My recruiter was extremely supportive, answered all my questions patiently. She was very clear about the expectations from this role, about the team, company and its culture. She was extremely responsive and unlike other companies, I did not feel my application or questions went into a black hole. I liked the way they stopped accepting applications as soon as they had their pool of candidates. This saves time for so many other applicants. It's rare now days to come across recruiters who are this committed to their role. I am sure they will find the right talent for the company, who will enjoy being part of Roku. 2- Interviewing with the Hiring manager was also a great experience. She was professional and courteous. I liked the way she described the role, expectations, potential problems that the role will need to be equipped to handle and the skills she might be looking for. In her introduction she gave in insight into her career journey and how her time has been in Roku. She was very clear on the team set and future growth opportunities for the role and the level of visibility it will have. She also explained how the organization set up(which is not typical IT org in a company) and the challenges that come with it. I liked her empathetic approach on how most folks applying for this position will be coming from typical IT orgs and have experienced different group dynamics with business users. 3- It was good to hear how leaders in this company are mindful of their investment in tools landscape and their spending. Usually this is a slippery slope in other companies that causes lot of $ bleed.
