      Director Interview

      Jan 10, 2022
      Anonymous Interview Candidate

      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Roku (New York, NY) in Nov 2021

      Interview

I thought that Roku was a serious company, and I must say that I am highly disappointed. I have been through six interviews, during each I had to answer multiple hypothesis, and spent many hours in the hiring process without receiving a response. When I reached out to their HR she scheduled a call with me but never called and did not send an email either. I, therefore, decided to remove my application for the director role at Roku.

      Interview

They had several rounds with the last one in person. They gave me a free roku device, which was a nice touch. The process felt pretty sterile, not a lot of personal interaction aside from going through the motions

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Roku (San Jose, CA) in Mar 2021

      Interview

The interview process was smooth from applying online, phone screening to scheduling 1:1 Zoom meetings with the hiring team. The interviews consist of detailed hypothetical questions. My sense is that the hiring manager is gathering intel as he is still figuring out the team structure and goals. Unfortunately, communication went silent after I completed the interview loop despite a heartful thank you note and follow-ups. I understand priority changes and people are busy, it’d still be courteous to provide an update especially after the candidate has invested time and effort engaging in the interview process. Perhaps it’s a representation of the company culture? I seem to see the patterns based on others’ feedback on this thread – ghosting candidates.
