      Senior Software Engineer Interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at RoomPriceGenie in Feb 2026

      Interview

The process moved fairly fast, though I only got to the take home challenge step. The take home was interesting to work on. I received written and detailed feedback on my submission and they sent a voucher on process completion. I decided a while back to only continue with companies that guarantee a follow up call after the take home challenge submission for the sake of what I refer to as a candidate‘s ”right of reply“. I did not get the inkling that a take home challenge submission did not guarantee a follow up call during my first call with RoomPriceGenie, especially for well done submissions. I did not explicitly ask either and I would have saved myself time had I done so. In my opinion, their reason for rejecting my application is one of those things you debate about in a follow up call and give and receive different perspectives to architectural decisions etc. It overall sounded like a decent company and people. The process: 1) first call with hiring manager 2) take home challenge 3) tech deep dive that includes take home challenge review 4) final interview or chat.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and for interviewing with RoomPriceGenie. We’re glad to hear that you found the process clear and that the take-home challenge was interesting to work on. We also appreciate you highlighting the written feedback and voucher — we aim to recognize the time candidates invest in completing assignments. Your point about a follow-up conversation after the take-home challenge is a thoughtful one. We understand that many candidates value the opportunity to discuss their submission and exchange perspectives, particularly when it comes to architectural decisions. While we aim to provide detailed written feedback on submissions, we also continue reviewing how we can make expectations around the process even clearer for candidates. Thank you again for the time and effort you put into your application. We're also glad to hear you had a positive impression of the team, and we wish you all the best in your future opportunities.
