I applied online. I interviewed at Rothschild & Co
Interview
I've been told by HR to go for a 30mins in person interview with a lead equity research analyst. Overall the process was OK but the interviewer didn't really seem to get anything I was saying correctly. He also told me I was too analytical and that sometimes, even if the numbers are totally pointing the opposite, he needs to drive a the story a different way (which is the total opposite I've ever been taught in the field and something that I wholeheartedly disagree with). On top of that, not sure why, but he thought the entire model I did myself was built from a third-party data provider like bloomberg, even though I built a 3 statement forecasted model myself (which BBG doesn't even provide - surprising he doesn't know that as he's been in the field for 20 years).

- What is an underlying component that people tend to miss and that you should look into, especially for this industry

Interview
Standard / like any other equity research role. Some behavioural questions, some more specific to research and the firm. Not many technical or equity research specific technical questions, rather overall commercial awareness and knowledgeability.
