      Field Engineer Interview

      Aug 6, 2015
      Anonymous employee
      Houston, TX
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at SLB (Houston, TX) in Oct 2011

      Interview

I found SLB through a career fair at school. After dropping off an application I got an on campus interview a few weeks later. This was a pretty standard interview with no technical and only one problem solving question. Second round involved a two day interview process. Prior to attending groups were assigned projects relating to oilfield operations. Groups had minimal time to prepare and present starting on the first night. Along with a couple of team building exercises the group was forced to stay up late into the night to gauge applicant's fatigue and teamwork. The next day consisted of an early morning wake up call to visit multiple well sites in the local area. The process ended with a one-one short interview mostly discussing the goals of the applicant and where they would want to be position. At the time of the interview oil was $100+/bbl so that may have effected the competitive factor. As far as I know everyone who applied was offered a job.

      Interview

It was an on campus hiring. First they shortlisted based on CV. Then second round was group discussion where we were given abstract topics like "Half filled glass of water" and were asked to discuss. This was also an eliminatory round. The final round was more of a HR round, they asked behavioural questions, few puzzles (very easy) and general knowledge questions

You have a candle, a lamp and you have to light both, which will you light first?
