      Senior Hardware Engineer Interview

      Feb 20, 2016
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      White Salmon, WA
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Sagetech (White Salmon, WA) in Oct 2015

      Interview

Lower Level Management Guy expressed frustration that he really didn't have much boss power. All my negotiations about the job offer were with Mr. Upper Management. Before I even started the two week trial employment, I suggested what I considered sensible that they should provide me their employee handbook before I make the trip to start work at Sagetech. That's when I got the first of Mr. Upper Management's my way or the highway. Whatever the disagreement big or small, you're fired. So I agreed to wait until I arrived at Sagetech before getting the employee handbook which, oddly, I was allowed to take home and read over the weekend. There were instances where management wasn't honest and sincere. During the two week working interview, I wasn't really interviewed at all. After the two weeks trial employment ended, another two weeks went by with no contact. Finally on the 3rd Monday, Mr. Upper Management called to find out if I would be interested in a job offer. He asked me what salary I wanted and then he will underbid it without justification, and issued another another my-way-or-the-highway. It's funny how they put application deadlines on their job postings, then end up with nothing and have to extend the deadline. He later told me they had hired two Senior Hardware Engineers, but then when I saw the same help wanted ad posted again, I figured they hadn't hired anyone. Looking at the past negative glassdoor reviews and recent positive reviews, either there has been a change in management or else management is writing their own recent reviews. Working at Sagetech was pleasant enough during my honeymoon. Nice people. There was a problem though with not being able to use a network analyzer whenever I needed it, due to other engineers also needing it. That could be a problem if you are on a tight schedule. They do have a scheduler guy. Maybe just by random chance but all the engineers were white men and I don't recall meeting any minorities while I was there.
