The interview was conducted by a panel of three people (state HR person, Board chairman, and a representative from another Richmond museum) who took turns reading from a list of 14 prepared questions. The process was very impersonal -- with no interaction or feedback from the panel. At the end of the hour-long interview, they indicated that the next step in the search process would be selecting candidates for in-person interviews at the museum. Two working days following my phone interview, I received an e-mail from them notifying me that the final candidate had been selected and thanking me for my participation. I believe that they had already identified their preferred candidate prior to their phone interview with me. That would be the only way that they could announce having made a selection that quickly (and without any time for on-site interviews). I feel like my interview was conducted to fill a quota -- or to make it seem like a legitimate search process had taken place.
