I was genuinely excited about joining Slice. The early interactions were positive, everyone was personable and the engineers I met impressed me. However, the process quickly became disorganized following the "final" round interviews. Despite being verbally offered the role, I was later rerouted to a different, more senior position, then eventually shifted back to the original engineering manager role, only to then be told hiring for the position was paused. This entire process spanned roughly 2.5 months from application to the final update (with the final interview feeling more like a formality before informing me that the position was not available).
Compensation conversations also lacked clarity throughout, and extended periods of silence made the experience stressful, especially after being recently laid off. Everyone I spoke with was kind, but the overall experience felt chaotic, disappointing, and, for lack of a better word, cruel. I hope this was a one-off instance and not representative of Slice’s broader hiring practices, but I can’t in good faith recommend the experience based on what I went through.
