During the interview timeframe, things seemed to be moving along fine. I went through 4 interviews (including one with the CEO), and then suddenly communication stopped. I reached out on two separate occasions to see if I was still a candidate without any response. Finally after a third attempt, I received an automated response saying I was no longer a candidate. Shortly afterward I received an email from who would be the hiring manager that I they were not moving forward with me as a viable candidate for the role. I expressed my appreciation for the opportunity and asked what motivated them to move in a different direction (for my own knowledge and development). I have not heard anything from them since (it has been over two weeks). This is unprofessional behavior at any level. After putting a candidate through four rounds of interviews, the least you can do is give them the respect to let them know why they were not selected.
