Don't apply here if you are over the age of 35. If you do, you will be wasting your time. Seriously the place is overrun with 20 something millennial coder boys and girls that run around the office everywhere wearing robot T-shirts with ripped up jeans and sandals.
I was called initially by a technical recruiter who told me about the position and asked me if it was okay to for her to send in a copy of my resume to them at SQ1. I told her yes. She called back the next day and told me that SQ1 would like to do a face to face interview. So I traveled to Dallas to do the interview, as I fought through reams and reams of downtown road construction that had everything turned upside down, topsy turvy in the downtown Dallas area. Talk about stressful to max!
When I got there, I noticed that place looked very millennial-ish, cartoon-ish, and I thought very sophomore-ish-childish with all kinds of giant statues of cartoon characters like the big, green hulk, Spiderman, Green Lantern and Superman clogging and occupying the hallways of the place. The hallways were also littered with popcorn machines that were propped up on top of old fashioned, turn of the century, circa 1900-1908 era looking two wheeled carts, the breakroom had all kinds of snacks and drinks with open air bullpen seating for the employees.
I was then taken to a very modern-ish looking conference room with some very modern looking decor and after I waited there for about an hour finally an older looking thirtysomething manager and two very nerdy looking, young millennial coder boys wearing robot T-shirts and sandals came into the room and started conducting the interview which was very open ended where very few hard core technical questions were being asked. The whole time during the jobs interview I felt very uncomfortable and I felt very out of place and a real fish out of water being an older guy dressed in a suit and tie. I really do think that age discrimination played a big part of the hiring process here. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind about that whatsoever.
