I applied online. I interviewed at Stock-trak (Toronto, ON) in Jul 2021
Interview
Applied via job board. Hiring manager reaches out via job board messenger with generic message and doesn't even bother putting my name after the greeting.
I select a time that is provided and he tells me, on the job board, "ok here's my email, add me on Skype before our meeting"
I add him on Skype and I message him on job board to ask him to confirm that he sees I've added him. He replies "you have to send me a message or else I won't get a notification"
I send him a message and he confirms he received it.
At the agreed upon time I send him a message on Skype saying I'm ready whenever he is I join the call and the assistant manager has joined us (why am I coordinating the meeting when you have an assistant manager?)
He starts off with, "right now we are remote and the job posting does say remote but the boss will want everyone to work in the office 5 days per week as of a schedule that will soon be released, is that ok with you?"
I introduce myself and he asks questions about my past experience.
I asked him what the training schedule is like? He said you start immediately and that there's no real training schedule. You start with shadowing and reverse shadowing then you will work on your own. Also, since we're a small company, if you're interested you can do extra tasks around the office (why would I do additional work for you if you don't have the courtesy to coordinate the interview? Also how are there no training material on your platform? Your business is based on an educational service)
He asked me my salary expectation and I said "the job posting shows range 35k-45k, is that negotiable?". His response:"You can try"
There were some good questions and good interactions but I would not want to work with these managers.
Advised to wait one week for a response
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
"how would you handle a very upset client?", "Are you technical or creative.... I think we know but I thought I would ask anyways", "what is the age group you would enjoy to teach finance to the most? Elementary, high school, college? why?", "What do you know about the company?", "assume I don't know anything, teach me something"
