It was a highly disappointing phone screening. The interviewer did not sound prepared nor engaged at all. He even struggled trying to phrase his questions correctly about the job and my background -- This gave me the hint that the interviewer doesn't understand the job and its responsibilities too well. I had also wished the interviewer would have given me time to ask questions so I can get to know the interviewer and the company better. It's important I build rapport in any job interview I have.
It was also a major turnoff that the interviewer was trying to contact me for an impromptu screening days ahead of our scheduled call. Because of this, I was going into this screening less interested in the job and the company itself. From the tone of the interviewer and his less than thrilling interviewing skills, I wasn't exactly sold by the company and knew it wouldn't be the right environment for me.
