      Senior Front End Developer Interview

      Aug 10, 2021
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at StreamElements in Aug 2021

      Interview

1st step- Call with HR. Short intro into company and position. Small chat on what I am looking for. It was nice brief chat, but I was not provided any details about position, product or team I would be working with. 2nd step- Call with Lead engineer We have discussed my background and how teams are working in StreamElements, what they looking for and what is important for me. 3rd step - FE assignment is to build React app. Assignment had no details or specifications, only very low fidelity wireframe. It was left for my own interpretation what tools/libraries to use, how it needs to look and how to deliver it. I was told the task is max 2 hours. It took me 6-7. There is just no way someone would be deliver the assignment any quicker to high quality and tests. Assignment is a simple one, just a size of it is much bigger then I have been told. 4th step - Technical call They skipped this step as assignment was good and they didn't want to ask any more technical questions. 5th step - Call with C-level executive. Chat about my experience and check on soft skills. Call starts with interviewer shouting "Whatszzz up!?!". and by following 10 minutes monologue on how he has worked in technology since 2000... something. The interview was extremely weird. The guy was noticeably chatting(typing) with someone all the time and randomly laughing. This made my quite confused and uncomfortable. He had some INTERESTING questions like "Could you tell me about a moment when you colleague gave you feedback and it changed you and your life?". When I have started asking Job Ad. related questions to clarify some aspects, the interviewer noticeably was quite unhappy about this and provided some vague answers. Not too sure if he has even seen the job Ad. or not. Good thing, none of FE devs would be working with the C level executive on daily basis as he is not involved in day to day tasks. -- After 5 steps of interview I still have no idea with what team and on what product I would have worked on. And I have not received any feedback on my performance during any of these steps. After 5th step they decided to not offer the position.
