Worst candidate experience ever: A friend of mine who worked for Surf Air referred me to apply for the Flight Concierge role at the San Carlos location. When I arrived at the San Carlos Terminal for my on-site interview, nobody working there even knew I had a scheduled interview. I waited at the guest lounge for a total of 20 minutes before I was escorted to a room with a regional manger and a team lead. The interview lasted 45 minutes and I was asked a wide range of questions - from my career experience, to describing my strengths and weaknesses, to what my career goals are and how Surf Air could help me get there.
After the interview, there was no follow up communication about next steps. I waited for 2 weeks, and I emailed the supervisor asking if they needed anything else from me. Then, an executive assistant from their corporate office in Santa Monica called me to schedule a phone interview with one of their CFO. On the day of the phone interview and 10 minute before my phone interview, the executive assistant called me to let me know that the CFO was running 10 minutes late. My called was supposed to be from 11:00-11:30; the CFO called me at 11:23am, and I had a 7-minute interview with him...
After my 7-minute phone interview, I waited, and waited, and waited, and waited. Zero communication. I never received an offer or a formal rejection. I found out a few weeks later from my friend, who originally referred me for the role, that they hired someone else...
Conclusion: The recruiting process at Surf Air is unprofessional, disorganized, disrespectful, outrageous, and absolutely unacceptable. For an airline that prides themselves in delivering exceptional/world class service to their customers, they really need to up level their delivery of a candidate experience. Get your recruiting process together.... come on!
