      Director of FP&A Interview

      Oct 24, 2025
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied in-person. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at The Jed Foundation

      Interview

Disorganized organization - the WORST aspects of nonprofit and startup combined! Initial screen was super easy albeit pointless. Recruiter sped through org chart then asked questions about my resume. Not at all like a traditional screen. Didn't seem like the recruiter had spent any time on a review at all. Seemed like they used AI to source candidates from how they described it (strange since this organization is fairly anti AI) Next round - met with hiring manager in second round to discuss role. Fairly straightforward. Third round was with other employees and was a mix of behavioral and culture/fit. Final round was with hiring manager who then told me the role would not at all be like the posted job description. Then they went radio silent for two weeks plus to then say they went with another candidate. The salary range seemed low and their benefits are on the lower end even for nonprofits. Avoid!

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We would like to clarify a few points regarding our recruiting process, as we take great pride in maintaining a human-centered approach. We do not use AI to source or screen candidates; every profile is reviewed personally. Our initial conversations are intentionally structured around an open review of our organizational chart and your unique resume to ensure a mutual fit. While we regret the two week delay before your final update, this was due to unavoidable scheduling conflicts, including internal board meetings and executive time off, which we communicated. We take candidate care seriously and appreciate the time you invested in interviewing with us. Wishing you all the best.
