I applied on Linkedin and received an invitation from a senior person to come in for an interview. I was not asked to do a prior phone screen nor was I asked anything about my salary expectations before going in.
I accidentally arrived pretty early, but the team seemed to be ok with it and didn't make me wait long. I was interviewed by one person first, then another came in and I spoke with her.
After what seemed like pretty decent conversations with both people, the interview ended and I left. I sent them both a thank you note a couple of days later, and one of them responded asking for my salary expectations. After I replied, she said they would be in touch.
It is now going into four months later and I never heard from either one of them again. Even after sending two follow-ups. So the lady blatantly lied when she said they'd be in touch.
I think it is just rude and cowardly to ghost a candidate that has been interviewed in person. If my pay rate was the issue, that could have easily been communicated and we could have gone our separate ways, no hard feelings. It only takes a two minutes to send a thanks but no thanks email.
