      Senior Software Engineer Interview

      Aug 15, 2023
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at TherapyNotes in Aug 2023

      Interview

Given a at home coding test after initial phone screen. Code test is just a typing test as the questions are more like a college exam with easy questions. This test is filtering out talented developers. After the take home I was ghosted for several days and then rejected. This company doesn't know how to hire and the fact that they pay for the service to provide this test tells candidates they don't care about their employees. Suggestion: stop using this hazing process to hire and use the money saved to give your staff a raise.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Many multiple choice trick questions and two academic programing problems that were designed to take an hour each but the test it only two hours. This process is just random and results in essentially the fastest at typing getting the job. Also: Update a Bit Counter method that takes in a string of unsigned 8-bit integers and counts how many 1 bits each contains in the binary representation of that number.

      Interview

I went through resume screening, after which had a phone screening with their HR representative, and they then hand me off to technical interviews with their development team. Interviews were relatively average in time and questions were fairly standard.

      Interview

I was referred to the position by a corporate recruiter. Initially had a very pleasant call with HR to discuss job requirements and HR explained the steps for the interview process. Few days later, I took an 1.5 hour online assessment using devskillers which was pretty easy. After that, I did not hear from HR for a few days and later found out from my corporate recruiter the initial salary range communicated by my recruiter to HR as well as my direct answer of salary range requirement during my initial HR call was not within the position's salary range. So why waste candidate's time and ask to complete the online assessment when the job was never a match in the first place.
