First I sent a cv, then had an interview with two professors (program coordinator and potential supervisor). asked mostly about motivation and research interests (why you want to study in this area, why are you applying for this position)

Interview
I applied via a listing on AcademicTransfer. I was invited to the first round of online interviews and then to the final interview on campus. After 1 month, I still have not received a definitive response. I actually really liked the campus, environment, and the supervisors, but being ghosted after the final interview has left a bad taste in my mouth.

Interview
One job interview with 3-4 other (assistant) professors and at least one other PhD-student. This interview usually takes around 45-60 minutes. In some departments there was also a writing test in which you get 3 hours to read an article and write your feedback on the article. Process takes less than 1/2 weeks.
