Education, previous work experience, and references
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Toronto Research Chemicals (North York, ON) in Feb 2024
Interview
1st interview was a phone screening with the HR manager followed by a 1-hr in person interview with 3 lab managers. The HR interview was pretty straight forward, just asked the usual "tell us about yourself" followed by giving a brief history of the company, discussing salary expectations etc.
The in person interview was a lot more technical. It was basically going through all the experiences listed on the resume in detail with a couple of follow up questions here and there. Pay attention to the wording you used in your resume because they will ask based on that. At the end I was given a test-like paper with some more technical questions and together we went through a few of the questions which I had to respond. Finally I was given a tour of the lab.
Overall it was a challenging interview mainly because of how deep they dug into the resume. You really need to understand what you wrote, especially when it comes to experiments you've ran. It's good however that the interviewers themselves were fairly nice. Though it's almost impossible to find them online so reaching out to them to get feedback is very difficult
