HR asked probability questions and behavioral questions. Why do you want to be a quant researcher and what working environment do you like? There are also some regular questions about your expected time of graduation.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The probability questions are about a poker game and ask what the expectation of your payoff is and how much you would like to pay to play the game.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Valkyrie Trading (Chicago, IL) in Sep 2025
Interview
Very obviously, their talent acquisition team has zero understanding of the skills and experience relevant for the job. On the bright side, you could study for their interview process and fraud your way through if you’re like 19 and don’t actually have work experience. Don’t waste your time if you are an experienced applicant. Had a better experience with 2 larger firms, who had more savvy talent acquisition.

Question 1
Typical probability, combinatorics, and python, with added SQL.
This reviewer is referring to a role where the interview process is entirely led by the hiring managers for the QR team--not recruiters. Both are partners at our firm and have over 10 years of experience. Perhaps the candidate is referencing external agency recruiters who shared the job, but those individuals are not employed by Valkyrie.
Additionally, we did not conduct any interviews on September 1, 2025 because that was Labor Day.
Applied for the role and was emailed hacker rank assessment with 2 questions on arrays with choice of language to code in either python/c++. Was hard for me to crack the code.
