The interview process was very straightforward and they really want to make you feel comfortable for the interview. At the campus level, you start with a campus tour, then you do a sample lesson that they gave you the topic for and then a debrief and questions.

Interview
I was invited for an interview and received an email that outlined that I would need to teach a lesson to students using their curriculum, and create a student exemplar. Because I hold a masters degree and four teaching certifications, I reached out to the hiring team to see if we could forgo the teaching and student exemplar part, using my credentials and portfolio as proof of my capabilities. The hiring team shared that part of the interview was non-negotiable, so we parted ways. I can understand if an applicant is applying to teach without certifications, but my certifications and degrees say that I am an expert. Additionally, as a parent, I would not want someone in the classroom taking up valuable instructional time to 'teach' as part of their interview. We don't ask doctors to interview like this on patients, we shouldn't be asking teachers to do the same. Not to mention the backloading that goes into preparing a lesson before you even have the role? My goodness, no.

Rushed, but overall well. Could have been more intentional. I think over time with practice this may be improved, at least it’s my hope. I did appreciate questions about what I needed in the role and what I expected support in.
