The call started promptly, but the recruiter spent nearly 20 minutes discussing herself, her role, the company, its challenges, and the HR department in great detail. She gave way more granular information than was really necessary for this first round. After that, she asked a few brief questions about my reasons for seeking a new opportunity and my opinions on HR. That was the extent of it. By the end of the call, it was clear I wouldn’t be moving forward, and I received a standard rejection email a few days later. I feel like my experience with this particular recruiter was just unfortunate. I’d be open to applying to a different role in the future, hoping to connect with someone who takes the time to understand my background better.
