I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Zocalo Public Square
Interview
The interview was over the phone while the Executive Director was driving. It was very erratic, and I was asked multiple inappropriate (and illegal) questions. He told me that he didn't want to and hated managing the organization. When I asked how many editorial staff Zocalo employed, he got upset and thought this was an inappropriate question. I wish I had heeded the multiple red flags and withdrew my application immediately.

Question 1
Are you a working-class kid or a middle-class kid?
I applied online. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at Zocalo Public Square (Los Angeles, CA) in Jan 2019
Interview
It happened very quickly. I submitted an application and got an email back within an hour. I guess they were desperate?
The interviewer asked me several questions related to my race, age and gender which were illegal. He also cussed and told me that several of his current employees had "mental health issues". All of that was the red flag for me. I did not pursue the job.

Question 1
So who the &^%! are you? Seriously, he asked that.
After responding to the job post online I heard back within 24 hours via phone; I would consider this phone call an initial screening in which I was asked to describe myself and my past experience. The following day I came into the office for an interview with two staff members, although some of the questions and comments were rather blunt I felt that the interview went well. The next week I was asked to come in for a final interview. Instead of being asked about my past experience or skills I felt that the majority of the questions had to do with my personal background and beliefs. Overall I felt personally accosted and that this final interview was very unprofessional.
