I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Zopa (London, England) in Nov 2020
Interview
- Initial phone screen with recruiter where I was asked about my current role, experience, career goals etc.
- Phone interview with a senior engineer where I was able to talk about the projects I work on in more depth.
- Take home test. Creating a simple React web app. The instructions were super clear and they even provided designs. Probably took 5-6 hours.
- Pair programming exercise. Involved connecting to an API and rendering data on the screen. Nothing too hard.
- 2 culture fit/behavioural interviews. All very friendly interviewers.
In the end they ended up going with a different candidate. There wasn't any negative feedback from my interview, but that's just how competitive the market is right now. Overall though it was a good experience and the recruiter was very quick and accommodating at organising my interviews.

Question 1

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Zopa (London, England) in May 2021
Interview
Very thorough interview process, consisting of 5 stages. The HR department was always on top of things, I always knew what's happening next and gave me really useful feedback after each stage. All technical and non technical interviewers were very easy going but professional, they're looking for the right person for the job rather than the best coder in the world.

Question 1
If you haven't worked at a finance before they will probably ask you about ethics and morality when it comes to modern banking. I felt like there was no right or wrong answers and it was a telltale sign that there is a culture of open communication which was very important for me.

Interview
First a phone interview with the recruiter. He explained the process well and done some basic questions about myself and how I work at my current job.
Second a screening test. It was a React + Redux app that I had to finish, fix and add some cool stuff on it. A bit too extensive for a test to be honest, but at least it was fun.
Third a technical interview with a developer. All went well, the questions were kinda basic. The developer was clear and easy with me. He didn't pressure me at all, it was more like a talk.
Fourth was the Code pairing exercise. The weird part was that I ended up doing some React-native coding, which I wasn't prepared at all. In end it seems that I was being interviewed for the React-native developer position. Not what I applied for, but I was ok with that at the moment.
After some weeks with no feedback I've contacted the recruiter. He apologised for the delay and asked a day to schedule some more interviews. He never got back, even though I did try to get in touch a few times.
The whole process had an ok experience, but how it ended with no feedback at all although I've being told that I was still at the process was a huge let down.
I would have no problem to hear that I didn't make it, but no response at all after I had invested so much time at the process was really bad. It seems to be a good company to be at, but they have a lot to learn about recruiting.

Update: they did contact me after the long delay and explained their reasons.
