      Engineering Interview

      Jan 29, 2022
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at onX in Dec 2021

      Interview

As far as I can tell there isn’t a standard process. I asked at each stage what was going to happen next and the interviewer either didn’t know or said “Maybe you should talk to <name> next”. They were very non-communicative during the long interview process and even though I made it to the final stage, I received a form letter as a rejection. This is after I spoke with their entire team and completed a long take home project. Save your time and apply somewhere else.

      Question 1

Not many technical questions, just conversations.

Thank you for your honest feedback. We apologize that your experience left you a bit confused about where the process was headed. The interview steps in Engineering are fairly standardized across all platforms, but it sounds like we might not have done our due diligence to ensure each interviewer had the big picture. We are investing in additional resources/training this year with the expectation that we will improve the interview experience for all. At this time (subject to changes), our interview process in Engineering typically goes as follows: Stage 1 – Interview with a Recruiter. Stage 2 – Two steps: 1 interview with a Hiring Manager and 1 technical interview with a Senior Engineer. Stage 3 – Three steps: 1 take-home coding project (less than 4 hours), code review of take-home project with ~2 onX Engineers, and 2 to 3 final interviews with Engineers from the team with the open position. For Senior level positions, we require that one of the final interviews be with either our VP of Engineering or Senior Director of Engineering. Note that we treat every interview as a two-way conversation. We understand that you are interviewing us as a potential employer just as much as we are interviewing you as a potential team member. We encourage you to ask questions in order to get to know us. :) Again, thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. If you have additional comments, we welcome you to share feedback using our recruitment@onXmaps.com email address. - onX Recruiting Manager

      Engineering Interview

      Aug 26, 2022
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at onX

      Interview

Multiple rounds of interviews, pretty standard on content, seemed many people had a say in the hire. I did feel the interviewers were genuinely interested in evaluating me which was nice. Was a bit long though, not the interviews themselves but the time between them - I’d say from first interview to last interview it took a few weeks.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Standard coding and agile based process questions.

Thank you for the feedback on your experience during our interview process. Our goal is to provide a genuine interview experience, where you get to learn about onX just as much as we learn about you. We agree that the process can get a bit lengthy, which is why we're actively working on streamlining our interview processes and guidelines to simplify for everyone. Congratulations on your offer and welcome aboard! - onX Recruiting
