      Software Engineer Interview

      Sep 24, 2021
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      San Francisco, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at ooma (San Francisco, CA) in Aug 2021

      Interview

I was approached by the recruiter in LinkedIn. The recruiter said that the base salary would be 150k, plus bonus and stocks, and remote work. Straight forward tech interview. First round: 45 mins - 2 Leetcode questions. Medium, easy-medium. Final round (virtual onsite): one LC round- 2problems, one LC+System design round, another system design round. On the day of the final round interview, I got an offer from another company. So, I asked them if they could let me know the results as soon as possible. They let me know that I got selected after 2/3 days, and gave me a verbal offer. It was on Thursday the HR sent me a link for background check and referral request. I filled up these on Thursday night. On Friday morning recruiter told me that, your offer is final, only the CEO has to sign it. CEO was out of office that day, so he told me to wait till Monday. On Saturday morning recruiter told me that everything is final. I rejected my other offer as they didn’t want to wait that long. To my utter surprise, on Monday morning recruiter told me that the company won’t move forward with me. I asked him the reason, he told me that he knows nothing. I wanted to talk to the hiring manager, but he refused. And never answered my email again. I got totally frustrated as I lost my other offer for them. Meanwhile with my current company I lost focused completely as I was certain that I was changing my job. Now, I have no offer, and also on the verge of getting laid off from my current company. My current company warned me about my performance, as I haven’t made any progress last two/three weeks. I’m in H1b visa. And people in my shoes know how difficult it is if you lose your job without any warning. I am really disappointed by their hiring manager and recruiting process. Extremely unprofessional.
