      Entry Level Developer Interview

      Oct 3, 2016
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Chicago, IL
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at project44 (Chicago, IL) in Apr 2016

      Interview

I first did initial phone screen with hr, then was invited for first interview at staffing company's location. There, I did 30 min interview with basic introduction and coding questions. After that, I was invited to Project 44 to do in-depth 1 hour coding interview. Lastly, there was a 1 hour final interview with the manager-level people. They did not show up... After that, I was told by staffing agent that I did not make it. I asked for detail, and the reason was that they decided not to hire anybody for a while... I liked the other developers who interviewed me, but it turned out to be very disappointing and time-wasting...

      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at project44 (Chicago, IL) in Jun 2016

      Interview

I interviewed with project 44 through a recruiter in a spur of the moment event. I met directly with the CEO for about 30 minutes where I was asked a simple - reverse this array without using Python and in O(n) time - question. Afterwards we set up a time to do an interview in-office. I was supposed to meet with the CEO again and instead was interviewed by 2 seemingly new employees. The first coding question was very straightforward. The second was a nightmare. The question wasn't presented properly and I was told to "make no assumptions". The problem was impossible to solve without doing so. After letting me struggle for 10 minutes they conferred and said "oh, you actually are supposed to assume something." After spending nearly 20 minutes on this problem the interview was over. No real in-depth questions about why I wanted to work there, my background, nothing. I never received any feedback from the company and honestly it was just a big waste of time. Word of advice: if you want young, fresh talent - actually invest in them. I was extremely disappointed after seeing the enthusiasm from the CEO and being really interested in the company. I would steer clear from this company until they become a bit more established and organized.
