The process felt friendly and relaxed, yet rigorous. I had an initial 30-min call with the hiring manager with general questions about my experience, motivation for applying, and whether I was serious about relocating to Jutland. I was super surprised when she asked me about my salary expectation for the role at the end of the call - it was super hard for me to answer b/c I wasn't familiar with Danish salaries, but I am glad that I have a reasonable but high number. The second interview was with 2 team members for the role, and someone higher up in the department. There were many philosophical questions about creativity, play, learning, etc. We also talked about communication, how I would approach a design process, etc. I received a brief for a case study which I was to prepare for the final interview. I had 10 days to work on it and I put in about 20 hrs of work. The final interview was with the hiring manager, the 2 team members from the second interview, and the head of the department who is a VP. We began with an intro, and I was welcome to ask any lingering questions. I then presented for 30 mins. I had really over-prepared so I had to cut the end short. Everyone shared feedback and reactions and it was a really positive and supportive discussion. The hiring manager asked a few final questions about how I felt about the role and everything - possibly trying to suss out if I was really serious about moving and if I really was a good fit. I was told they would take about a week to decide if I would move forward to the references stage, but to my surprise, 30 mins after the call, they asked for my references! I was very relieved that the process moved quickly and was so well organized since it is a big move for me and my family.
