Forbes Bros. Timberline Construction Inc. is seeking an experienced Quality Control Inspector – Foundations to support foundation construction activities on a major transmission construction project in Nebraska.
Reporting to the Construction Manager, the Quality Control Inspector – Foundations will oversee, inspect, and document quality-related activities associated with foundation construction on site. This role will support the implementation of the Project Quality Plan, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and project-specific quality requirements to ensure work is completed in accordance with client specifications, engineering standards, applicable codes, and regulatory requirements.
This is a field-based quality inspection role. Candidates must have hands-on experience with foundation construction, including drilled pier / drilled shaft systems, helical pile systems, civil works, concrete placement, reinforcement, anchor bolt alignment, backfill, and compaction activities.

Key Responsibilities
Field Quality Leadership & Compliance
- Support implementation of the Project Quality Plan, Inspection and Test Plans, and project-specific quality procedures.
- Perform and document inspections of foundation and civil construction activities.
- Inspect drilled pier / drilled shaft installation, helical pile installation, excavation, subgrade preparation, reinforcing steel, cage installation, anchor bolt placement, alignment checks, formwork, concrete placement, finishing, backfill, and compaction activities.
- Verify that work is completed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, procedures, and applicable codes.
- Monitor inspection hold points, witness points, and testing requirements.
- Review and verify inspection reports, test results, concrete tickets, material certifications, and related quality records.
- Maintain accurate inspection logs and field quality documentation.
- Assist with as-built documentation, turnover packages, and project closeout requirements.
- Identify non-conforming work and communicate issues to supervision for timely resolution.
Documentation & Turnover
- Ensure quality documentation is complete, accurate, and submitted in accordance with project requirements.
- Coordinate material traceability and document control activities related to foundation construction.
- Support preparation and compilation of quality turnover packages.
- Assist with tracking corrective actions, deficiencies, and closeout items.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Coordinate inspections with client representatives, third-party inspectors, testing agencies, subcontractors, and project personnel.
- Work closely with construction supervisors, engineers, and field crews to promote quality awareness and compliance.
- Assist with investigations of non-conformances, deficiencies, and quality incidents.
- Participate in root cause analysis, corrective actions, and closeout activities.
- Promote a culture of quality, continuous improvement, and proactive issue resolution.
Qualifications
- Technical diploma, engineering technology diploma, construction management education, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- Minimum 3–5 years of quality control inspection experience on industrial, civil, energy, infrastructure, utility, or large-scale construction projects.
- Direct hands-on experience with foundation systems, including drilled pier / drilled shaft and helical pile installation, is required.
- Experience inspecting concrete foundations, structural concrete, earthworks, reinforcing steel, anchor bolt placement, backfill, compaction, and related civil construction activities.
- Experience reviewing inspection and testing documentation, material certifications, concrete tickets, test reports, and quality records.
- Familiarity with applicable construction codes, standards, inspection requirements, and quality management systems.
- Experience working on major capital projects is considered a strong asset.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable MVR / driver abstract required.
- Must successfully complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing, subject to applicable law and project requirements.

Reality of the Role
This is not a desk-based quality role. The successful candidate must be comfortable working in the field, inspecting active foundation construction work, reviewing work against drawings and specifications, documenting findings, and coordinating with construction teams, testing agencies, and client representatives.
This role requires:
- Field-based work on a major project site
- 4 weeks on / 1 week off rotation
- 6 days per week while on rotation
- Work around active construction crews, equipment, concrete placement, excavation, and foundation activities
- Strong documentation discipline and attention to detail
- Confidence identifying quality concerns and escalating issues appropriately
