Description Founded in 1833, Oberlin College was the first college in the US to enroll women on an equal basis with men. The school has a College of Arts and Sciences (about 2,200 enrollees), but may be best known for its Conservatory of Music (about 600 enrollees), the oldest such institution in the US. The College of Arts and Sciences offers nearly 50 undergraduate majors, the Conservatory about 10. Students can earn bachelor's degrees in either program, but can also earn a five-year double-degree in both. In addition, Oberlin offers master's degrees in opera theater, conducting, performance, historical performance, historical instruments, music teaching, and education. It has two-year certificate programs as well.
