Description The 1,700 students at Davidson College account for about a fifth of the population in a small North Carolina town with the same name. Located just north of Charlotte, the liberal arts school offers 20 majors and 12 minors in areas such as anthropology, art, economics, history, and philosophy. It also offers pre-professional programs in medicine, law, business, ministerial, and management. Students are bound by a strict honor code that allows self-scheduled, unproctored exams and prohibits students from cheating and stealing. The school was founded in 1837 by Presbyterian ministers and named for Revolutionary War commander William Davidson. The college is supported by a more than $485 million endowment.
