Description Abilene was once the home where the buffalo roamed, but now it's where the Abilene Christian University Wildcats play. The private Church of Christ-affiliated university, which requires Bible study courses and daily chapel attendance, has an enrollment of approximately 4,800 students. It offers some 60 baccalaureate majors that include more than 100 areas of study, in addition to about 25 graduate academic programs, one doctoral program, and study abroad programs in Oxford, England and Montevideo, Uruguay.
