The University of Leeds helps its students get in the lead. It is the second-largest university in the UK with more than 30,000 students. The institution offers undergraduate programs in arts and performing arts, biological sciences and medicine, business, education and law, engineering, environment, and math and science. The university is divided into nine faculties, which are further divided into schools, institutes, and centers. Notable alumni include author J.R.R. Tolkien, astronaut Dr. Piers Sellers, and singer Corinne Bailey Rae. The University of Leeds traces its roots to the establishment of Leeds School of Medicine in 1831.
