Banco di Desio e della Brianza (Banco Desio) operates about 150 bank branches, centered on the Lombardy region of northern Italy. Founded in 1909 as Cassa Rurale di Depositi e Prestiti, the bank serves individuals and small to midsized businesses by providing standard deposit and savings accounts, as well as loans and mortgages, investments, insurance, and leasing services. Subsidiaries of the Banco Desio group include Chiara Vita (life insurance), Chiara Assicurazioni (property/casualty coverage), and Anima (fund management). The latter acquired the Italian operations of DWS Investments in late 2006.
