Founded in 1977, Cathedral Square is a national leader in the development of affordable, service-enriched housing for older adults and people with special needs. We advocate policies that promote independence and healthy living and insist that all people, regardless of income, have the right to housing that is affordable, safe and high quality. We doggedly pursue our mission to advance “healthy homes, caring communities and positive aging” throughout Vermont and beyond our borders. In addition to operating 30 affordable-housing communities in Vermont, Cathedral Square designed and currently administers the nationally recognized SASH® (Support and Services at Home) program throughout Vermont. SASH has been shown to save Medicare expenditures while improving health outcomes and quality of life. It is being replicated in several states and is the inspiration behind a three-year, $15 million demonstration funded by the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development in seven states.
