The mission of Fulton Academy of Science and Technology (FAST) is to provide an education based on design thinking and problem-solving with an emphasis on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) to K-8 children in the diverse Fulton County community. FAST’s goal is to prepare children in a way that provides them a foundation to be creative innovators and problem solvers so they are prepared for success and leadership in our rapidly changing world. With the diverse demographics of our existing community serving as the background theme for academics, children will develop the foundations for learning and thinking that prepares them for success in post-secondary education and careers.
Fulton Academy of Science and Technology (FAST), a charter school in the Fulton County School District, is based on the idea that we can provide an educational experience that teaches students to self advocate, problem solve, and think for themselves within a purposefully diverse population. We do this through our curriculum (Singapore Math, FOSS, SEL) and our Design Thinking and Project Based Learning educational experiences. One of our marks of distinction is that we offer an extra class in grades K-7 called “Innovation Hour”. These classes are specific to developing independent thinking and executive functioning skills as part of lifelong learning and preparation for becoming leaders in an uncertain and ever changing world.
We are entering our sixth year of operations and are STEM certified and accredited. In addition, we have recently had our charter renewed for a five year period. Over 1200 applicants entered our lottery for the 100 seats available. Why? Because FAST is child centered and filled with an energy you can feel.
