Forces inside and outside of our control can take us in directions we never could have anticipated, and stretch us beyond where we ever thought we could reach.
We wanted to build a place for ourselves and others to explore the unknown, enliven ourselves, and have conversations about things that often aren’t talked about. A place to be with ourselves and each other, to receive and give energy, to make discoveries, and to tap into our innate creativity, wisdom, and intuition. A place of safety, revelation, and renewal.

Scott Kriens, the chairman and former CEO of Juniper Networks, and his wife, Joanie Kriens, started the 1440 Foundation in 2010, recognizing that the blazing success of the internet catalyzed powerful connections, yet did not help people connect to themselves.
In its early years, 1440 Foundation was entirely focused on philanthropic grant-making in support of individuals and organizations committed to helping us grow in relationship, spirit, and wellness. The creation of 1440 Multiversity stemmed from a desire to establish a beautiful and nurturing physical location where people of all walks of life could come together in community—to explore, learn, reflect, connect, and re-energize.
