Description Cummins Westport hopes to kick gas (gasoline, that is) as a leading producer of alternative fuel engines for transit and commercial vehicles. The company, a 50-50 joint venture between Westport Innovations and Cummins, Inc., manufactures a line of engines that burn CNG (compressed natural gas), LNG (liquefied natural gas), or LPG (propane). Cummins Westport's engines offer 150-320 horsepower while producing fewer emissions than traditional diesel engines. Cummins Westport's L Gas Plus engines are currently in service on Los Angeles' high-capacity Metro Liner buses.
