Not every Tom, Dick, and Harry gets into The College of William & Mary. The median SAT score for incoming freshmen is about 1,350 (out of 1600). The second-oldest college in the US (Harvard is the oldest), William & Mary is a public university (though it retains its traditonal "College" moniker) with an enrollment of about 7,700 students and an endowment of more than $575 million. Some 600 faculty members instruct students in more than 35 undergraduate programs and advanced degrees in about a dozen fields of study at schools of arts & sciences, business, education, law, and marine sciences. Among its notable alumni are three US presidents: Thomas Jefferson, James Monroe, and John Tyler.
