The rubber meets the road at Obsidian Enterprises. The holding company operates through three subsidiaries: United Trailers and Classic Trailers manufacture commercial and recreational trailers, as well as steel-framed, enclosed models, for hauling everything from race cars to landscape equipment. Obsidian's U.S. Rubber Reclaiming subsidiary reprocesses scrap tires and inner tubes to make reclaimed butyl rubber sheets that are used to make inner tubes and linings for tubeless tires. Obsidian affiliates range from an aesthetic surgery center to an Italian restaurant and limo rental company. Chairman and CEO Timothy Durham and other senior executives own the company, which was taken private in 2006.
