Creating Connection Through Play: A Grand Opening Celebration at Halsey Terrace and Hokulani At ‘Ohana Navy Family Housing, we believe that strong neighborhoods are built not just with homes, but with heart — and our recent grand opening celebration at Halsey Terrace and Hokulani was a beautiful reminder of that. Over 300 residents came together to celebrate the launch of two new destination playgrounds, designed to be more than just places to play. These vibrant, inclusive spaces are community hubs where military families — often far from their hometowns and extended families — can build new relationships, find support, and create lasting memories. The event featured a traditional Hawaiian blessing, delicious food, games, crafts, and outdoor fun. The energy and camaraderie shared among families reflected the deeper purpose behind these playgrounds: to foster connection, belonging, and joy. Each playground was thoughtfully designed with age-appropriate zones, sensory-friendly features, and shared spaces that encourage interaction between children and adults alike. After a fire destroyed the newly renovated playground at George F. Wright Wahiawā District Park, the community came together to restore it. ‘Ohana Military Communities proudly donated a repurposed play structure from the Hōkūlani neighborhood, giving the equipment a second life. Thanks to collaboration with the City, local leaders, and partners like Inspired Play Hawai‘i and Goals Hawai‘i, Wahiawā keiki are once again enjoying a safe, fun place to play. “It’s our honor to support Wahiawā families and show what community resilience looks like,” said Katie Stephens, Development Manager....Show more

Congratulations to Ebonie Bolden, who was coined by Jeff Choi for her willingness to assist the OMC Navy Team for the past four months, serving as their interim Director of Operations. This “extra” portfolio consisted of almost 4,500 homes and 100+ employees, which was further complicated by the six-hour time zone disparity between North Carolina and Hawaii. She routinely worked 12+ hour days to accommodate both portfolios and consistently demonstrated genuine care for her employees and residents. She is in the process of PCS’ing to Texas with her family, and her OMC family will miss her very much. Thank you, Ebonie, for your commitment to HMC’s mission!...Show more
