Alain Afflelou is eyeing Spain, too. The company owns more than 90 stores throughout the country and bought Spanish eyecare company F2L in 2005. In 2006 British investment firm Bridgepoint Capital acquired a majority stake in Alain Afflelou. Optometrist Alain Afflelou opened his first eyewear store in France in 1972. The chain was launched several years later in 1979.
