Description Shurm Homes began in 2001 as John Shurm finished work on the construction of a house with his father. It was at that time he realized there was a need for quality craftsmanship at an affordable price in Richmond. A year later he graduated VCU with his Ph.D and instead of following his intended career path into Medicine, he decided to build another home and test his theory. This experiment was a success and before he knew it that home turned into another, and another, and Shurm Homes began.
