Mission Citu was founded with a single purpose: to accelerate the transition to zero-carbon cities.
Climate change is the biggest challenge we face. Solving it is why we get out of bed in the morning, and it keeps us up at night.
That’s why we focus on buildings. Buildings account for two thirds of the UK’s emissions, and where we build our homes can affect our carbon footprints too, because our location has an impact on our travelling time. That’s why we only build in city centres, or next to excellent public transport, so you can ditch the car and save the planet.
We’ve built sustainability into everything we do, from heating our office using solar and wind energy, to the design and materials we use for our houses, apartments and commercial spaces.
Our places also improve those things which are harder to see, but they’re just as important. Health and wellbeing, quality of life and a sense of community, are all a major consideration when we’re planning our developments. It’s a difficult job juggling all of these concerns, but, like you, we want to do as much as we can so that everyone can live more sustainably.
From using 100% renewable energy at all our developments, to sourcing the majority of the materials used to build our home from within the UK, we put sustainability first at every step.
Description We’ve been building innovative places that help people reduce their carbon footprint since 2004. We’ve won more than sixty awards along the way, from the Guardian Sustainable Business Awards, to the Housing Design Awards. But we don’t much like resting on our laurels, it just doesn’t feel right given the scale of the climate change challenge at hand.
We like focusing on the future. And we want to show you how design, sustainability, innovation and technology can all come together to create mixed use urban developments that will help us all accelerate the transition to zero-carbon cities.
That’s what gets us excited.
But we can't do it alone. So we collaborate with world leaders in their field to ensure your home is the best it can be, from the design of individual rooms to the places that surround them.
We have worked with White Arkitekter, a leader in sustainable placemaking to help us design our places. We’ve also collaborated with Leeds Beckett University to develop our innovative timber framed housing design that we produce at our own manufacturing facility, Citu Works.
But it's not always about creating something from the ground up, sometimes you need to bring an area back to life. We work with organisations like Historic England to ensure that when we do, the history and character of the original building remains.
We're on a journey to creating better places to live, work and play. If you’re reading this, chances are you want the same thing as we do. So come join us. Together we can accelerate the transition to zero-carbon cities and reverse global warming..
