Description Catalyst Semiconductor keeps the memory moving. The company develops non-volatile memory chips, which retain data when a system's power is off. Products include EEPROMs (electrically erasable programmable read-only memories) and flash memories used in cell phones and computer peripherals, and NVRAMs (non-volatile random-access memories) used in antilock brakes and networking gear. Catalyst also designs mixed-signal chips used in a variety of applications. Asian customers account for more than three-quarters of sales. In late 2008 ON Semiconductor bought Catalyst Semiconductor for stock valued at about $115 million.
