Description Colby College is one of the oldest liberal arts colleges in the US. The school was founded in 1813 as the Maine Literary and Theological Institution, and in 1871 it became the first previously all-male college in New England to admit women. Colby offers bachelor of arts degrees in more than 50 majors and has an enrollment of approximately 1,800 students. Its most popular majors are biology, economics, English, government, history, and international studies. Not only is Colby one of the oldest liberal arts colleges in the US, it is also one of the most pricey: Annual tuition, room and board, and fees total more than $46,000.
