In 1901 the discovery of oil at Spindletop marked the beginning of the modern petroleum industry. Today, Spindletop Oil & Gas is keeping that tradition alive in its exploration for and production of oil and natural gas. The company has major operations throughout Texas, as well as interests in oil and gas properties in more than a dozen other states. Spindletop Oil & Gas has proved reserves of more than 323,000 barrels of oil and 12.5 billion cu. ft. of natural gas. The company also operates more than 26 miles of gas pipelines and an oilfield equipment rental business. It manages subsidiaries Prairie Pipeline and Spindletop Drilling. Giant Energy Corp. is the parent company of Spindletop Oil & Gas Co.
